When someone thinks of photo shoots, they think of a gazillion photographers, a bright studio, and one highly in demand model. But the event I attended on October 12th was something much more than your run of the mill fashion shoot. It’s a passion project that’s number one priority is encouraging participants to let your artistic side show.
Run by Eyecam Photography, the House of Horrors photoshoot was a Halloween themed event that allowed everyone to come dressed up as whoever their hearts desired. Costumes, cosplay; all welcome at the House of Horrors.
Although this wasn’t my first Eyecam event, it was my first-time witnessing creativity of all those that attended. It can be intimidating to be in a space where about 50 people engulfed the room, but the eye-catching outfits were quick to distract you.
It was interesting to see which models arrived in costume, how many outfits they brought, and the impressive makeup looks that each person brought to showcase. Watching them confidently strike poses, seamlessly becoming the character they were depicting was honestly like seeing the actors from Disneyland do their thing (without having to spend a fortune).
And it’s not just the models that come to impress. While they might not be dressed to impress, the photographers catch their subjects in a light that they could never see themselves. Both literally and metaphorically.
Attending these events as an onlooker, you can see it’s more than a modeling event. A community was built through these photographical events. There are genuine friendships and laughs being had while models work. They shout words of encouragement, uplift one another. The positivity that radiates off all those that attend can be seen and felt.
Everyone gets a chance to showcase their talents. Whether it be makeup, modeling, photography, or even fashion design! Eyecam’s events has space for many to have a spotlight.
